Via lo stress

I got this book for a friend of mine who also lives in Rome. I was immediately attracted to the cover, Via means 'go away' or 'road' in Italian...and the cover plays with the last meaning, placing the title on a common street sign in Italy. Everyone who has lived in Rome for years knows that it's not all dolce vita it can also be a really stressful city to live in. The transport system is really slow and lacking, the traffic is horrible, Italians can be pretty crazy, endless demonstrations blocking the city if it's not yet another transport  strike going on...

In other words, finding a way to cope with the stress is necessary if you want to survive in Rome. Personally I do yoga, and go for walks in one of the amazing parks the city offers. For other ideas, check out this book with lot's of inside-tips...I've only seen in in Italian, if you don't speak it you can write down the addresses, and go for a discovery trip in the city. I can't wait for my friend to bring me along to one of the stress free spots in Rome. Have a stress-free Sunday!

To Rome with Love

I just came back to Rome after a short holiday in Norway. I saw this film at the movies before leaving. It's a comedy Woody Allen-style. The film is set to the most beautiful city in the world...Rome of course, is there any doubt;) so of course there's a lot of stunning pictures of the city. It's true that in Rome everything is a story... The film is mostly about visitors (mostly Americans) some Italians and their surrealistic stories. I saw it dubbed in Italian, (I didn't have a choice...) I would love to see it in English as well: Funny and worth a trip to the movies.
Go see it if you get the chance!

'Gusto

'Gusto is an institution in Rome. In the city center off Via del Corso
on Piazza Augusto Imperatore behind the Ara Pacis museum.
A huge building divided into a restaurant, pizzeria, wine bar, bookshop, wine store, osteria, and a coffeeshop.

I really love the wine bar for an aperitivo, Italian-style. You buy a glass of wine or a cocktail and get finger food from a rich buffet for free, the best in Rome, I'd say with delicious mouth-watering food!

The que is long everyday, so I recommend you come here early. It's a bit pricey, but in the end it's worth the wait and euros spent. http://www.gusto.it/
